Hi there!

I’m an introvert who hates being in the limelight. That is why you won’t find me out presenting. It’s kind of of ironic for someone who started a blog and a business that puts me out there in front of everyone.

Sadly, I’m also not funny, unless you are a toddler. They think I am hilarious! While I appreciate humor, I’m more down to earth and practical…

I love to help people succeed and have spent most of my life doing that behind the scenes. I read the research to be sure that I’m on the right path in what I’m saying. Then, I combine it with my life experiences to give information that works.

So why read my blog?

I have the credentials: a B.A. in psychology and speech pathology, an M.A. in speech pathology, and over 35 years of experience in the schools. But that’s still not why I’d read my blog.

Because I know about real life.

I grew up the oldest, and second mother, to 3 siblings diagnosed with mental disease.
I’ve worked with children of all handicapping conditions, ages, and degrees of difficulty.
And I’ve raised 2 gifted children, now wonderful adults, and parented a child who had a fatal genetic disorder.
So, I’ve experienced a lot of what you might be dealing with. And some of what I hope you never will have to deal with.
That is why I give practical tips based on what I’ve learned. And I am willing to brainstorm other possibilities, because no 2 kids are the same.

What about fun?

I get great joy from caring for 2 of my grandchildren and watching all 3 of them grow!
I love creating materials and helping other SLPs.
I’m an avid quilter who dabbles in all sorts of handcrafts. Weaving and making baskets are my newest joys!
I love to drink wine. Outside in the summer, by my fireplace in the winter, with a good book at any time. No tear jerkers for me, though. I like fantasy, sci fi and urban romance.
I love to eat good food. Luckily for me, my husband is a great chef and now does all of the cooking.
I love to travel now that I’m not tied down to a school schedule and see what it is like in other parts of the world.

What about you? Feel free to get in touch with me anytime. Ask a question, let me know what brought you to my blog, or just say hi! I’d love to hear from you.
Enjoy!
